With Royer & McGavock since 1985, Kit had a very broad based education and experience all over the globe.
Raised on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley, he entered the Navy after graduation from W&L, served on submarines and aircraft in the Cold War, later worked as a commercial tour guide in the Soviet Union, wrote books and articles on Russian culture, was a Fulbright Fellow in Paris, and taught at the University of Virginia.
In his years as a real estate broker, Kit has closed dozens of sales in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Staunton, Augusta County and in twelve other Virginia counties and cities. Notable sales include farms from 30 to 1500 acres, shopping centers, office buildings, historic landmarks, and finer residences. To learn the business really well and meet prospects from other areas, Kit created and taught some 200 seminars nationwide on real estate finance and investment. He also owns commercial property and has major experience in its management, analysis, and financing. His current listings include West Wind, unquestionably the finest estate on the market in the Shenandoah Valley today.
Kit’s competetive streak is evident not only in his real estate career, but also in masters rowing regattas, where he is internationally known as a six-time national age-group champion single sculler and 2007 world champion. His cultural interests emerge in his production of Elizabethan and Victorian festivals and balls.
