Tom McCrystal grew up on a farm in West Warwick, Rhode Island, served in the Army at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and attended the University of Rhode Island. He began his business career in insurance and securities in Providence, with an insurance company that was renowned for it’s educational and training programs. During Tom’s tenure with this company he spent much time in study with an emphasis on business principles, taxation and finance.

Later he moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, as a broker consultant for a large eastern insurance company. Soon after his move he began his own business as an insurance broker and registered representative of a securities company. Most of his business activities were with commercial and corporate clients who were able to benefit from Tom’s experience in business and financial affairs.

In 1980 Tom added Real Estate to his business and became associated with Royer & McGavock, where commercial, estate and farm property are his main interests. During his career he has received many awards for high achievement including the Charlottesville-Albemarle Association of Realtors Top Producers award. Tom has served on many boards and commissions and as an advisor to various corporations.

Tom lives on 30 acres in Farmington Hunt Country just west of Charlottesville, and is active in civic, athletic and charitable affairs. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society granted Tom the “Silver Hope Award”, the highest honor awarded by the Society.
